Another Room Finished

The Blue Room.
That's right, this new room is called....
"The Blue Room"

Because.

Here are some photos. Pretend you are standing in the middle of the room and turning in a 360 degree circle to your right. Fun!

A Hundred Things a Day

We all do hundreds of things every day. Hundreds of small, mundane, insignificant things. Laundry, buying milk, refilling the soap dispenser, changing the sheets, planning what to pack for your lunch. Pick something. It's all mundane and small. Ordinary.

Sometimes these ordinary things make you feel less than extraordinary. You wonder if you've failed. You wonder if you had just done _________, maybe your life would be more than ordinary. You think, maybe your life is mundane and small because you've made it that way. Sometimes our lives are so ordinary that we forget that extraordinary could be right around the corner.

Think about this.

Moses was 80 years old before he ever began to walk fully in his purpose. I imagine he felt like a failure at least a few hundred times in those 80 years.

Rahab, a prostitute, spent her entire life never knowing that she would be anything more than a simple girl, before those two men begged her help and she became part of the family. The family that gave way to the birth of the Man who would grow up and save the world.

Jesus waited 30 years to reach out and heal someone. He was a man moved by compassion. Sick and dying people are a part of life, they would have been all around Him. How much did it kill Him to not heal, to not raise the dead when He knew He had the power to, just because it was not yet time? He might have felt ordinary in those moments.

Jacob spent 14 boring, mundane years, 7 of which he was tricked into, just to enter into the life he imagined. A life with the woman he loved.

Abraham. Need we even talk about Abraham? He was old to begin with, and then was promised a newborn son with his gray-haired wife. He waited years after that promise even, to see fruition.

Did you get it? Sometimes our mundane, boring, ordinary tasks are just that. But sometimes those mundane tasks are simply preparation for the extraordinary that you will one day become. They are preparation for the Lord to take your life and shake it up in the most amazing way. And preparation in the sense of the word means waiting is involved. Sometimes all you are supposed to do is wait. Even though it's hard and yucky. Maybe, especially because it's hard and yucky.

Did not....

I did not stay up until 4:30am yesterday night knitting and re-knitting my first sock, just so it could be done.

I totally did not enlist my (ever so loyal) friends to paint a room in my house for the 10th time. That would signify a decorating disorder. Really.

I did not skip Spinning Class at the YMCA on Saturday morning just to have a girl's night sleep over with my bestest friend on Friday night.

I absolutely did not wake up for 11am church service this morning at precisely 11am, notice the time, roll over and pull the covers over my head.

I really did not eat 4 of the large sugar cookies I made yesterday for my friends.

I did not become distracted by the MOUNDS of yummy, beautiful, soft, fluffy, colorful at Bloomin' Yarns last week. AND while I was there, I most definitely did not go out of budget and buy lots of nice soft yarn so I could knit my first sweater.

::big sweet smile::

I did not just look at my at my YMCA's exercise schedule and decide that Cardio Sculpt is just not worth going to bed early for.

I totally did not just decide that I could stay up and work on my new sock for a little bit longer even though it already is 1am.

I did not get out of bed today at 3pm.

I did not push a wobbly, stiff, annoying shopping cart around Giant Eagle today because I was too lazy to go up front and get a new one.

I did not eat only pretzels, cream cheese, salsa, pink lemonade, and cereal with soy milk today.

I did not spend time surfing all the blogs I follow, instead of folding the clean laundry sitting next to me.

I absolutely did not spend a good amount of time cutting out coupons and writing a specific sale-based grocery list only to forget to use my coupon for my most expensive item today.

This post brought to you courtesy of MckMama.

Why?

This Monday officially marks the start of "Not Me! Monday's".

MckMama has a great list over at her blog of things she "did not" do during her week. You should go check it out and read everyone else's list. It's pretty funny.

Basically you post a list of things that you did do, but would like to pretend (for the sake of the list) that you "did not" do them.

Be brutally honest with yourself once in a while. And be funny.
If you want to post a list of your own, go check out the rules on her page.

Phone Woes

So, my phone is broken. The speaker on it no longer works. I can still hear people when they call, I just can't actually HEAR the call coming in, as it no longer rings audibly. Sad day. Really.

SO, I have employed the Cup System.

I put my phone on vibrate and placed it inside a ceramic mug. That way, when the phone vibrates (rings) it makes a loud noise in the cup and (hopefully) I hear it! It's a so-so method, but more effective than leaving it on the table where it vibrates right off onto the very quiet floor.

SO, in conclusion, if I don't pick up, I might not have heard the phone vibrate (ring) and so will call you back whenever I remember to check my phone for missed calls. (I am trying to do this more frequently now.)

AND, if any of you have a Verizon compatible phone that RINGS...feel free to send it my way. :)

LOVE!

Not all socks are created equal....

Especially not mine.
Proceed to pictures below.

At first glance, it looks pretty normal. Nice, huh?
(thank you, thank you)

Now the other side.
Umm excuse me...Miss Yummy Stripy Sock?
I think you have a worm under your big toe
and a tumor under your left ankle bone.

And an elf cap on top of your toe region!

Oop, yeah. That's the close up. Hmmm.

I think something may be wrong here.

hehe.
So my first attempt at a sock turned out
...interesting to say the least.

That's ok. I love it.
I think it's odd, gangly and totally cute.

Maybe the next one will turn out better if
I don't work on it for three hours after working a 13 hour night shift.

Yeah, that might help.

Aren't they beautiful? I LOVE this yarn!

They should be fun! We'll see how it goes.

Here it is on Ravelry, if you are interested.

Some reasons why I <3 my job.....

- I get to hold and feed teeny weeny beautiful 4 lb babies
- I get to take two year olds by the hand and help them pick out smiley stickers
- I get to draw happy faces on band aids after I make a boo-boo
- I get to make funny faces to make kids laugh
- I get to work with funny cranky small people
- The Pop Stop downstairs makes REALLY great chocolate milkshakes
- I get an honest to goodness sit down hour for lunch
- I get to go to a 12:45pm yoga class on a weekday and have a private lesson because I'm the only one there. lol.

The floor is great right now, but I know that during respiratory/winter season when it's crazy I might need this list of why I like my job.

:)

It gets crazy.

I need....

You know those days when you just feel cranky inside? The days where you get mad at everything you don't have a right to be mad at? You feel easily hurt and offended and just basically weird and off? Yeah. They happen. We all have those every once in a while.

I'm having one today....actually have been having a string of them this past week. But these things happen. It's days like today that really makes me realize just how much I need (NEED, not want, desire or wish, but actually NEED) a saviour. I need Jesus more than I'll ever fully realize.

I never usually post lyrics, but these just stuck out to me today. In fact, I put the windows down on the highway, cranked the music and sang as loudly as I could. It was a passionate moment.

All this time
All this trying to beat human nature
It's still holding on to me
I'm made to run
But I was meant to be free
But still I'm broken
In need of someone to rescue me

Sometimes I fall
Sometimes I lose my way
But when I fall
That's not where I'll stay
Sometimes I fall
Sometimes I make mistakes
I will fall
But when I fall
I fall into grace

I'll let you down
If you're looking to me
To be perfection
This side of eternity
So hear me now
Here the words that I speak
I see redemption
But i'm not yet complete

Sometimes I fall
Sometimes I lose my way
But when I fall
That's not where I'll stay
Sometimes I fall
Sometimes I make mistakes
I will fall
But when I fall
I fall into grace

I need a saviour
I need a saviour

I need a saviour

I'm so glad that Jesus was and is willing to be my Saviour. He loves me so much, and I love Him. I'll just be glad for the day when He comes back and this constant internal struggle between flesh and spirit is over. The day when my flesh is put to death, and I am raised eternally to be with Him. It'll be a great day.

So Sorry

I've been lacking in the posting area lately. I know. I admit it. Tis a sad thing. So sorry for this lack. I've been busy. I have lots of blogs written in my head, but no time to actually commit them to internet-space. Again, sorry.

SO, let me leave you with one-half-blog. It's the blog idea that doesn't quite make it to a full blog due to the authors incapacity for 24 hours of time without sleeping.

COUPONS!

I decided to see how much money I could save and how much healthier I could eat if I clipped coupons and followed the weekly sales. I bought a Sunday paper, carefully clipped coupons for all the items that I buy, and painstakingly read over the weekly sales. I then made a (detailed) list of everything that I wanted to buy. I was thinking of what meals I could make with what was on sale in the back of my head.

AND IT WORKED! ::huge smile:: I bought almost all organic, brand-name products for exactly the amount I usually budget out. I got to buy STEAK with the money I saved from coupons. (I am VERY excited about eating steak for the first time in AGES) I saved $12.46 using coupons and buying weekly sales. (!!!) That's a huge savings over a year's time and I didn't have to buy hardly ANY no-name-brand-yucky-cardboard-tasting-foods because they were the cheapest.

That's right, bow down to me. I am the Princess of the Grocery Store!
hehehe.

I am just so excited for all the yummy healthy food I bought!
Thank you all for humoring me.

P.S. - I think I called three people to tell them about my grocery-store-awesomeness today. (they love me.)

Shameless Plug for AMAZING t-shirts

Hi all!

First let me say I love to shop, I love clothing and I love Jesus.

Second, there is an amazing online store that sells t-shirts about Jesus. Well, not exactly about Jesus, but about Jesus. They are all modern contemporary designs on fitted tees and hoodies. Lots of them even have scripture on them. I love them, and I drool over their inventory everytime they release a new line of shirts.

You need to check them out. Seriously.
