Patience

I am generally an impatient person. Most of you know this.

Tonight, I was praying for patience and instead of the word "patience" coming out of my mouth, "faith" came out. I was annoyed at first, that the wrong word had come out. Then I began thinking that maybe faith might be the better thing to pray.

I think that in order to have patience, you have to have faith. You have to have faith in the goodness, sovereignty, and just nature of God. You have to trust that the Father has everything worked out, even if it doesn't end up looking like the picture in your head. Believe me, it rarely does.

So, instead of being impatient, rushing forward, and taking things into my own hands I am praying for faith tonight. Faith to trust the Lord, trust His timing, trust His goodness. Faith to truly believe that His ways are higher than mine.

The Lord is so worthy of my trust.

Think about it. He was faithful to the Isrealites, faithful to Moses, faithful to Abraham, Sarah (even though she laughed), Mary, Jesus, Hannah, Abigail, David (even though he was an adulterer), Jonathan, Saul and really, ALWAYS to me. You could really just list people forever that He's been faithful to, because that's just who the Lord IS. Faithful, and so many other words. He's faithful.

That's a good thought. To have patience is to have faith that the Lord will provide.

". . . if you have faith as small as a mustard seed . . ."

Everyone quotes that verse when it comes to faith. But it's not always as easy as it sounds.

I've been having a hard time with that too. When I do, I go to Hebrews 11 and just read it over and over. Every single "By faith . . .".

By faith we are justified and by faith the Lord blesses us. I hope He blesses you with the things you are seeking. ;)

Good thought.
